Terms & Conditions
Last updated August 8, 2026
These terms apply to every registration for a Walks 'N' Wags Pet First Aid & CPR class run by WORKBENCH Pet Care and First Aid ("WORKBENCH", "we", "us") in Richmond, BC. By completing checkout on our booking page or homepage registration form, you agree to the terms below.
1. Registration and payment
- A seat is only confirmed once payment is completed successfully. Seats held during checkout are released if payment is not completed.
- Prices are shown in Canadian dollars and 5% GST is added at checkout. Payments are processed securely by Stripe; we never see or store your card details.
- Two-person registrations reserve two seats. Dog spots are limited and allocated on a first-come basis.
- Registering a friend. If you register a second student, you confirm that you have their explicit permission to provide their personal information (name, email, phone number and address) and that they have read and agree to these Terms & Conditions and our Privacy Policy, including the cancellation, rescheduling and safety terms. You remain the primary registrant and the sole payer of record; refunds, transfers and receipts are handled through you.
- Your confirmation email is your receipt notice. Approximately one week before class you will receive a follow-up email with the exact venue, start time and what to bring.
2. Cancellation, rescheduling and refunds (student-initiated)
Class sizes are small and seats are held for you, so please read this section carefully before you pay.
- No refunds. Registration fees are non-refundable once payment is complete, including for no-shows.
- Rescheduling more than 2 weeks before class: you may transfer your registration to another available class date at no charge, subject to availability.
- Rescheduling within 2 weeks of class: a $50 transfer fee applies, and the transfer is subject to availability on the new date.
- Within 72 hours of class: no transfers or changes are permitted, and the registration fee is forfeited if you do not attend.
- Reschedule requests must be sent in writing to cheryl.yw.ng@gmail.com. The time of your email determines which window applies.
- You may send someone else in your place at no charge if you notify us in writing before class begins and provide their details.
- Add-on supplies (such as first aid kits) that have already been ordered or handed over are non-refundable.
3. Postponement or cancellation by WORKBENCH
- Minimum enrollment: a minimum of 4 registered students is required for a class to run.
- Low enrollment: if a class does not reach the minimum, we will notify registered students approximately 1 week before the scheduled date.
- Instructor illness or emergency: if the instructor is unwell or otherwise unable to teach, we will notify registered students as soon as possible.
- Your options: in either case you may transfer to the next available class date — taught by Cheryl or another certified Walks 'N' Wags instructor — or receive a full refund of what you paid. No transfer fee applies when we postpone or cancel.
- We are not responsible for travel, accommodation, time off work or other incidental costs related to a postponed or cancelled class.
4. Hands-on training, dogs and safety
This is a practical, hands-on pet first aid and CPR course. There is no formal liability waiver to sign, but by attending you agree to participate responsibly and to follow the instructor's safety guidance at all times.
- Follow all instructions and safety guidelines given by the instructor during practical exercises.
- Dogs attending must be healthy, up to date on vaccinations, comfortable around people and other dogs, leashed, and under your control at all times. You remain fully responsible for your dog's behaviour and for any injury or damage it causes.
- Tell us in advance about any handling, health or temperament concerns so the class stays safe for everyone. We may ask that a dog be removed from the session if it is distressed or unsafe; no refund applies in that case.
- Please let the instructor know about any injury, medical condition, allergy or mobility need that could affect your participation.
- Do not attend if you or your dog are unwell or potentially contagious; contact us instead so we can discuss options.
5. Educational purpose — not veterinary advice
The course teaches emergency response skills for pets. It does not make you a veterinary professional and is not a substitute for veterinary care. Always seek treatment from a licensed veterinarian in an emergency. WORKBENCH is not liable for outcomes arising from how course skills are applied after the class.
6. Certification
Certification is issued through Walks 'N' Wags and requires full participation in the course, practical skills tested throughout the day, and passing an open-book, multiple-choice exam with a grade of at least 76%. Arriving late, leaving early, not taking part in practical components or not achieving the required exam grade may mean certification cannot be issued, and no refund applies.
7. Course materials
Course manuals, handouts and downloadable resources are for your personal use. They may not be copied, resold or used to teach others.
8. Photography
We occasionally take photos during class for promotional use. Tell the instructor before or during class if you prefer not to appear in them.
9. Privacy
Information you provide when registering is handled as described in our Privacy Policy.
10. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The version in effect at the time you complete your registration applies to that booking. These terms are governed by the laws of British Columbia, Canada.
